djimi66, (with all due respect)If Mike Nesmith wasn't the brains of the Monkees, who was?(I already know Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart wrote some of the band's hits, but the comments "WJB1957," are pretty accurate as I remember reading about the band, years after their demise.)Thanks.Rock

kellismith2001, with all due respect,Although I thoroughly agree,the song Mike N. wrote was not for Joanne Woodward,I believe firmly,"musicvideoswhd," put her in this video as a tribute to her late husband, Paul Newman,and his deep love for her, as well as the over 50 years they devoted too each other.(I have been a Newman fan as an actor, but have even more respect for him as a philanthropist, for much of his life.Seeing, "The Sting," last evening brought me back today.)Thanks.Rock

I feel it better stated that Nesmith had the best business acumen by by far of all his fellow members. Although not the creator, he did take the inititive (under protest from the rest of the group)and the good business sense to divorce them from Don Kirshner so that they; as a group, could recieve all royalty & promotional item monies due them.Also, he forced the hands of the Monkee creators to play their own instuments at concerts and on albums.

I don't think this song was about Joanne Woodward. I bought it as a 33 1/3, one of my first buys, and I've loved it since it was first released.Beautiful

Mike Nesmith was - & is - very talented ... but he was in no way the brains behind the Monkees.

Mike Nesmith was the brains of the Monkees, and proved it by going on to do his own music.Paul N. and Joanne Woodword were a perfect match. He and his wife were/are two of the greatest talents in cinema.But many very wealthy actors could take a lesson from "Newman's Own," salads. All the profits are used to support his favorite charity, his "Hole In The Wall," "Camping grounds," where less fortunate children spend weeks out of their summers.Look for Newmans own Cereal, in January

It's really heartwarming to see a two people with such a strong, committed love that weathers a lifetime. They were a beautiful couple at the beginning - and the end. Hope she's doing O.K..
