Yes, if your arm is all stiff from making a tight fist, then you have less speed, and less power.

but finger jabs can turn bad when you dont hit the right spot, and you might have a chance of seriously injuring yourself, but if you get the right spot... good work =)

haha..covering the side is able to protect the face from side swings..but you're also right..we have to also block the face..however..i think it also must depend on the situation...

Finger Jabs very effective!!

i use finger jabs on the presure points. it usually slows my opponent and the n i pull the leg sweep and an elbow to the chest to knock the air out and incapacitate them

Yup, best to open your hand like a karate chop, point the finger tips to your setrnum on the swing, as this will increase the tip of the elbow. I know it sounds odd, but try it.

so keeping your hand loose, will it also make the strike more powerful?
flipx305 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
because it slows the elbow down. try closing your fist and throwing an elbow, and then try keeping your hand loose while throwing the elbow. you'll see the difference in speed

hmm that was good, but i was taught that when throwing an elbow, i should keep th other hand covering my face, so my hand is in front of my hand covering the gap where i could get jabbed (rather than covering the side) =)
