This song gets to me every time because I am going through a horrendous experience right now that has so much to do with this song. I just wrote a book about it. Its called The Maintenance Man and it is available for sale now. Its one of those "Oh my God I can't believe that just happened" books. Its a very compelling TRUE story about something that happened at our apartment complex in Columbia SC.

Our maintenance supervisor was a nice guy & I was 17 yrs old when my mother & I moved into the apartment & met him. I instantly fell in love with him but he was 35. I thought the world of him & we became friends. He had a wife though that he had been with for ten years & they had 3 children together, one whom they adopted, so I never told him how I felt. 3 yrs into our friendship he quit talking to me & my family.

This both upset & concerned me so I asked around & found out that his wife died. I was horrified by the news b/c my mom & I knew his wife. She was so sweet & I felt so sorry for her husband. I was told her death happened unexpectedly but later discovered it was suicide. She shot herself in the head b/c the maintenance supervisor, her husband, the one I loved, cheated on her with someone he met on the internet. It was supposed to be a fling but he accidentally got the woman pregnant.

He remarried this new woman the same month his wife shot herself in the head & skipped town before anyone could find out. He didn't even tell me goodbye & I was devastated knowing that he left before I had the chance to tell him how I felt. I decided to write him a letter to inform him of my feelings but by then it was too late. I wrote a story about the situation and I have put together an accurate account of a mother and wifes tale, one who was just not strong enough to go on living for her

children & my own emotional stress due to what happened b/c of this man's infidelity. It is an inspiring book & I know you guys would LOVE it. Please everyone help me keep this woman's story alive. She deserves it. I don't want her death to be for nothing. I want something positive to come from this tragedy & her story would help many other women.
