Edmunds bought a GT-R for a long term durability test. So far:Replaced an entire transmissionReplaced an entire transaxleMany other small glitches (the car won't take any more than a half tank of fuel for example)And it is throwing as many as two CEL's a week. So much for handmade Japanese reliability. This is what happens when you try and make a 3.8L V6 try and compete with a 7L V8. Boost it till it blows, Nissan.

My friend in St pete florida just bought one of these! He used his launch control all the time! tranny is shot! They wont warranty it! They want 20k to replace it!

HP/L is just an excuse. The ZR1 still has over 120 more HP and is faster in every aspect. I wouldnt be to excited about it since the launch control which is just a "neutral drop" fucks the whole transmission. Doesnt even offer a proper 6 speed manual tranny. Go ahead and void your warranty.

The Gt-R's performance:price ratio kills any other car. It seems like ZR1 fans are threatened by Nissan. I bet if Nissan made a 400k car it would absolutely destroy all American made muscle cars. Also keep in mind the liters:HP = 123.68 vs. ZR1's shitty 100.00. I really appreciate what Nissan has done as far as the price goes, they have made a stellar car that not only millionaires can buy.

It destroys the transmission, it's neutral dropping at 4k rpm. It only voids the warranty if the transmission shows wear because of launch control. Source= local Nissan dealership |
