The road traveled from the far left to the far right is far shorter than the road traveled to the middle. Have you ever noticed how former sinners are showcased on religious programs and congratulated for making the long journey to salvation. It's not a long journey at all. It's a revolving door that trades one fervent attitude for another. The far left and far right both tug on the same rope. They are both religions. -xavierXreivax

one only has to read the right/left wing clip comments on youtube to discern who is a 'liberal' and who is a con. the liberals are the ones who can:a: spellb: construct a coherent sentencec: can construct and evaluate argument instead of relying on false aphorisms and tired cliches to get their point across. d: couldn't give a flying fucking shit about curse words as used as an emphasis.. refusing to let the point be sidetracked by such inanities.

Because of the U-shaped curve, anyone who rejects intelligence as a reliable indicator of political inclination cannot simply test liberals and compare them with conservatives—they have to test very intelligent people and compare them with the median. So, in conclusion, the lecturer is fine in chalking some of the differences between liberals and conservatives to differences in personality, but certainly wrong when he rejects intelligence as a factor in determining political inclination.

I believe this distinction is too limited; it doesnt explain the differences between liberals and conservatives on issues which do not involve social change, e.g., minimum wage, affirmative action, the death penalty, war/foreign policy, federal budget policy/taxation, etc. In the book, I lay out a more all-encompassing distinction between liberals and conservatives that covers even issues which do not involve change.

in emphasis placed on each of these foundations. That is, even if these personality differences explain the difference between liberals and conservatives, differences in intelligence are part of what causes the differences in personality in the first place. Secondly, the lecturer also seems to group these personality differences into a difference on how each react toward change, with liberals embracing change and conservatives being averse toward change.

Instead, he asserts that the difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals embrace concerns for harm/care and fairness/reciprocity in their morality, and place less emphasis on in group/loyalty, authority/respect, and purity/sanctity, while conservatives emphasize all five foundations. I accept this lecturers analysis that liberals and conservatives differ on these grounds. However, the lecturer neglects the notion that differences in intelligence may produce differences

I have found in my 41 years that it is mostly those on the extreme left AND right who are closed-minded. I am a conservative Christian and I will never accept at full value the opinions of an atheist. At the same time, I see people like Fred Phelps and Jeremiah Wright and cringe!
