Yeah, natural sunlight, not shaded areas or overcast. Also when you have camera models lower than Canon Mark II's or Nikon D3's they tend to not handle white balance very well.

strobes are around the same color temperature as natural sun light.

Well, shooting RAW is an option of course. With a greycard in addition to adjust.

this guy is a mastermind at off camera flash. I've been trying his techniques for months with little success. not the best teacher ever, he's leaving out a LOT of important details, like white balance ... flash is blue, sunlight is orange, how does he deal with that??
