Now, the real question is what did Oyama ever do for the Korean people? Ans: nothing! Given that Korea was brutalized under the Japs, Oyama should have come home to help build the Korean nation after the war. Instead he chose to stay in Japan and assume a Japanese name and persona. Why didn't he use his Korean name? Because the Japanese wouldn't have trained under him, and he couldn't have risen in the karate world. He put fame and money ahead of his people and nation.

yes, in any organization, and i said ANY organization, there is always politics. i knew master Moon in Hong Kong, a 7th dan tkd master, and I was told to advance beyond 4th dan in TKD you are not awarded a rank advance based on skill beyond 4th dan, but only based on your contribution to promoting the sport, good publicity, etc. WKL did the same as M. Oyama in his Practical Wing Chun, staying out of the politics of the larger organization and focusing on his own skill. politics stinks. Osu!

actually, there was neither. after the annexing of korea, by japan, no korean martial arts were practiced.
