When the "Energy" hits more notes than opposed to. Like it lasting over 1+ notes, not normally too much longer though.

When you squeeze a drum fill, you hit the green at the end slightly early and then play the note that was supposed to be there at the end of the drum fill, but instead got "written over" with the drum fill. It allows players to get a few hundred extra points. The youtube video of it explains it better.
