Bro, activerunner is right, check the smithsonian website. The textbook we had then in the Phils were all bunch of bull mandated by the so called elites/educated since the rest of us then were all bunch of ignoramos. Most malayan group stayed in mindanao and became muslims, those who went further North came under Spain later....

When I did my research tonight, Malay race is misleading to the fact that Filipinos were descendants of Malays from the Malay Archipelago, but it is quite the opposite. I retract my prior statement about the roots of Filipinos rooting their bloodline to the Spaniards, though which in fact have interbred with the locals. I am one your fellow Pinoys and found some information based on what was taught in our history book was not entirely true. Let's forget about it and let's enjoy the LABAN in Dec.

activerunner76, i'm a filipino & i never heard about "austronesian" in our history books or in school. BTW is your subject matter is about the chinese migration in the philippines? coz the subject is about the filipino roots frm malay race & not from the spaniards contrary to your statement.. anyway let's enjoy pacman on dec. 6. hehehe

I did my research, but in actuality they are largely descendants of the Austronesian-speaking Taiwan, but the originating area was the Fujian are of China, which sailed to Taiwan then traveled down to the Philippines, then they Inter-bred with the Ami tribes from the Austronesian aborigines of Taiwan, the culture then traveled south from there. Only during the colonization of Spain did the Philippine culture get mixed with their bloodline. |
