Naw. I work in international law and I meet people every single day who live in foreign countries other than where they are from. I've never met a single person who made up or mysteriously acquired an accent while there. This guy just wants to seem like a "citizen of the world" as the newslady says in the video. Kinda stupid.Oh, by the way I'm an American born in Costa Rica who has lived in Brazil for 18 months during 02-03...no accent...

...3 years in any country with a different language will give you an accent. I had a foreign exchange buddy from Spain, and when he returned there his friends couldn't understand him for a month because he had such a thick American accent. He only spent 9 months here.

What is with Dave Phillips talking like a foreigner? Isn't the guy an American? Freakin weirdo. He said he lived in Brazil for three years - that's not long enough to all of a sudden speak with an accent. It's probably fake like Madonna's British one. What a DB.
