Thank goodness Mr. Mann finally got the funds he needed to turn his story into a true masterpiece. Heat is the gold standard.

Well people should understand this was a tv movie and plus made 6 years before Heat. The budget of a tv movie is nothing compared to the budget of a movie like heat. Mann had much less money for this tv show. In the movie business , less money means, less time to shoot the movie, no time for rehersals, no money to hire stars etc...and don t forget Mann had less experience at the time , considering this LA take down is really watchable. And by the way did you expect it to be better than heat?

my point is that De Niro and Al pacino made the scene one of the best ever with their great performance. But even thou the dialog was almost the same back in LA Takedown, the scene is bad because of the bad acting

It didn't prove that DeNiro and Pacino were great, it just proved that these two guys sucked. As for the shootout... classic 1980's "Guns don't need ammo" lunacy.

Sadly, I must report you for giving your opinion. :)

the guy who got shot holding the kid takes a *really* long time to aim at the cop. sucks, I was rooting for the criminals.
