Recreate '68: Democrats to Face Protests in Denver at Democratic National ConventionIt remains to be seen whether the Democrats will ultimately take their fight for a presidential candidate all the way to the Democratic National Convention this August in Denver, but for many activists tired of the two-party system and the ongoing war, they will be demonstrating at the convention regardless of who the final nominee is. We speak with Mark Cohen, an organizer with Recreate '68, and Mark Silverstein, the legal director of the ACLU in Colorado. [includes rush transcript]

No one here really seems to have done any research as to what Anarchy is really about... or any of the MANY countries and cultures that have lived in anarchy over the world.

Come on, Heel, it is not difficult to pick people out of your group who do not belong there. From what I have seen they are usually the most rancorous, wear bandannas and in the case of the RNC, they had items and flammables to throw. My comment about the interruption at the RNC regards the code pinker and the guy in the upper deck who disrupted Sen McCain's speech. To the best of my knowledge, that was not done at Obama's DNC speech. Protesting crowds at RNC committed more vandalism as well.

Coyeti, your points are mostly valid, but how can these groups of protesters know who thinks what? And as for the whole thing in general, there were in fact protesters at the DNC, and crazy stuff went down there too, but it wasn't as extensively covered. The group that organized both protests is protesting the whole state of affairs in our country and is made up of Democrats, Republicans, and others who disagree with the recent actions of our government.

First let me apologize for stereotyping protestors. I know there are many who understand that their right to free speech does not license illegal behavior. Having said that, it simply becomes more and more difficult to differentiate the 'idiots' from the lawful. The lawful groups permit the 'idiots' to hide in their midst; as far as I am concerned, that is harboring. And how offensive it was to see the 'idiots' interrupt our GOP candidate's speech. Didn't see repubs doing that to Obama, did you?
HeelofTim (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
You think a few idiots who don't get it represent the entire group? I also put forth a quote from JFK:"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."The government has been slowly disintegrating our free speech and other rights. It only makes sense that bad shit starts to happen.

News from the RNC convention:...A rock was thrown through the windshield of the Alabama delegates' bus, showering the driver and retired Alabama Supreme Court judge Terry Butts with glass.Masked protesters confronted the Connecticut delegation, and several delegates were spat upon, roughed up and doused with a mixture of water and bleach. "Here are your heroes. I'll be they are making a real difference. I am sure culture will change due to their vandalism, lack of respect, and anarchy.

i take it you are obvilious to the videos showing police treating protestors like criminals who do protest peacefully?open your eyes, it goes ferther than arresting those who have committed an actual crime, protestors are being targeted for simply marching and holding signs. look around.of cause you wont, you only see what you want to see. and that is that protestors are all criminals.thats pathetic, unless your a nazi.
