I saw this live on KTLA, channel 5, LA. Unusual for a title change to take place on TV in LA in those days.After the match, an outraged Blassie appeared in the dressing room yelling, "I'm going to speak to my very good friend President John Kennedy about this!"The California State Athletic Commission supposedly fined Blassie $500 for ripping off referee Johnny "Red Shoes" Dugan's shirt.The (English language) play by play announcer is the legendary Dick Lane.

Freddie Blassie was the Champion when I was growing up in Los Angeles. I sure loved him. So many fond memories watching the Wrestling shows at the Olympic Auditorium in LA and the old Muncipal Auditorium in Long Beach.Bob

I love this era of wrestling. I was right up there with baseball as an American pasttime. The garbage they call wrestling now is not worth the airtime.

great vintage wrestling from what I consiter the tail end of wrestling.I never saw blassie in person but I consiter him one of the greats. I recommend reading his autobiogrophy. the title escapes me.
