judo was a regular class in school at that time so most of ppl had experience in Judo. also rikidozan was a korean traditional wrestling player before he played sumo. in my experience, judoka dont do much against korean traditional wrestling players.

even tho kimura was best judoka at that time, doesnt mean he was best fighter. Rikidozan was much stronger, bigger man also has more experience on MMA than kimura. kimura lacked stand ups only grappling.

I'm from Brasil and I'm a fan of Kimura, his determination and his technique were fantastic. It's sad to watch people like Rikidozan, this man never won Kimura, this is obviously!!This man never had the courage to do a real fight with the greatest Kimura!!!Kimura forever.

Kimura would have easily wiped the floor with Rikidozan, if he had been told ahead of time that this was a shoot. Kimura is arguably one of the greatest Judoka to ever live, and kicked Helio Gracie's ass a couple years after he got shot on by Rikidozan. In all seriousness, he could have literally killed Riki in the ring without too much trouble on his part.

this was supposed to be a pro wrestling staged fight, and it was supposed to end in a draw.. but rikidozan got greedy and started throwing real punches... LOOK IT UP YOU TOYS

Rikidozan was the man. Kimura was/is overhyped. He realized that was no match for the korean wrestler.

Kimura was a 2nd or 3rd dan blackbelt in karate and was highly trained in boxing as well. In a real fight, he would have annihilated Rikidozan in seconds. Rikidozan was a former sumo guy who achieved Sekiwake, 2 ranks below Yokozuna. Even Akebono, who was a former Yokozuna, achieved ZERO win and all Losses in MMA.

From 0.46 to 1.03, Rikidozan delivers slaps to Kimura's head. At this stage, Kimura had still trusted Rikodozan, and thought this was a pro-wrestling staged fight. Kimura's guard was still down to receive attacks. Then, next moment, Rikidozan changes the slap to a chop right before it lands on Kimura, and delivers the chop to Kimura's neck artery. Kimura had trusted Rikidozan until the last moment.
