1)Even boxers wear headgear. Kali is the most dangerous art due to the weapon use. This is why they are protected. Even with protective gear you get hurt.2)Kali is practiced with 1 or 2 stick/knives or other various weapons. (also empty hand)3)Rattan sticks could be bought on line. (Kombat Instruments LTD)and more4)Training without proper gear will shortten up longevity in this art.

i agree, you cannot call it FULL CONTACT if you are still protected... sayoc kali is full contact because they are not protected.

because bamboo sticks can crack human skulls.that's why. you wouldn't have many students left if they weren't protected.

I think this is a good idea, as it gives close to real practice without the injuries. I beg to differ when people say full contact should involve injuries and all. They will soon find out that all the teacher's students are gone or in hospital. If you continuously keep getting injured, you will breakdown before ever learning the art, it is just common sense.
