This man is up in the ranks of George Gershwin and Irving Berlin.If you study his lyrics and actually see how well-written the music is, you would see why he's compared to the greatest song-writers.I'm not going to say the usual "you write better" because that's not the real argument. The fact is musically Randy is a brilliant Songwriter.

I think you're oversimplifying his view somewhat, and if you remember the article, he clearly says that he is well aware of the fact that noone was looking for him to say something political. He just felt like saying it. As he also says in the interview, his opinions are the result of living in a free country: He can voice them.You'll find he's very educated, though his poetry is deliberately simple to emphasize his sarcasm. Some of it is simple enough that you glaze over the meaning.
