I think he pulled off acting like a new waver because he was acting that way in the 70's. The early Roxy were more new wave sounding even that this to my ears. I didn't like them then, thinking they were too glam, but now I have almost all their output. Guess it takes me a while to grasp some things.

Yes they did. It's not as if they split when they were sagging or feuding horribly (at least from what I know). Avalon was one of their best so it was a natural way to end it all.

sorry about the eighties, it was just a bad patch of road we had to go thru to get to here and now. my wife constanly listened to roxy music back then. i guess it could have been worse

This is what you played when you got a girl back to your place in college in 1985. HOME RUN!

I'm glad I wasn't alive in the eighties.

....however, you might just as well say they went out on the top of their game music-wise. Ferry still does a great deal of live dates and his Dylanesque album of Bob Dylan covers was superb. Roxy Music also tours and does live gigs from time to time to great reviews.

more than this video, there's one for starters

Ferry rules, but I think it must have been odd seeing this man nearing 40 up there acting like new wavers much younger than he, but the man pulls it off. It's too bad this was it for Roxy Music though. |
