According to songwriter(!!) Martin Gore: "It's a song about being a Jesus for somebody else, someone to give you hope and care. It's about how Elvis was her man and her mentor and how often that happens in love relationships; how everybody's heart is like a god in some way, and that's not a very balanced view of someone, is it?"And as others stated was realesed in 1989 (not 90) when she (Duff) was 2.

really, that was the stupidest thing I've heard. Being born 87, this song came out when she was 2 years old... forgive me for strongly doubting that it was her.

Now that is funny. I doubt that Duff even knows how to write a song. If I am not mistaken this was written by Martin L. Gore of Depeche Mode (he does almost all the writing for them...not all...but most). At the time there were 4 people in the group. This is off the "Violator" album. This song was released back in 1989, thus actually making it and 80's song.
