The gracies are cool until they fight ppl like Sakuraba or Genki sudo who can ground fight and then their skills just get nullified .... and their shots suck aswell, any fighter worth a salt could avoid shit takedowns like that ! But i do agree that all stand up fighters need some grappling skills cause a good wrestler will take your ass down otherwise !

I have stated in previous video responces.... BJJ does have some good points i.e sweeps, positioning and being able to get to ur feet BUT and its a big one.... if you try and triangle or omaplata some dude on the street he will kill you. Didnt anyone see the fight on TUF5 where that blonde dude tried to armbar the other guy and just got dropped on his head and he was a pro MMA fighter ! things like rear naked chokes and small joint manipulation work but i would still rather G'n'P in a real fight

Hey Royce, can you say Sakuraba?

mma is the single ahnded best fighting style for self defense because u can use ur skills to the situation if someone tries to take u down they wont be able to because u train wrestling and if they do u can submit them from ur back or sweep them , and if urattacked by more than 1 u could use ur muay thai, anyway i dont really have to worry about self defense im 6'4 and 230 pounds so people tend to be afraid of me even if they have friends with them.

and skybluemarshall if 5 or 6 guys attack u u will get ur head kcked in no matter who u are or what fighting style u do so that was a really stupid point to make.mma is the best fighting style around because it covers all forms of combat and combines the best fighting styles toghther.and traditional kung fu guys would not be unstopable once they where taken to the ground they would be like a fish out of water just like everyone that doesnt do bjj.
monoforraptunes (October 8, 2008 at 7:25 am)
u have no idea what ur talking about virtuous rebel i do mma which is what ufc is and im tellling u now the techniques are much more effective to learn and easy to use on untrained fighters than alot of fighting styles, and in real life there are many fights that are fair iv seeen that where fair,so ur little fact is also bullshit,1on1 mauy thai and bjj are the best fighting stles hands down kung fu and tkd are bullshit thats why u never see any decent mma fighters that are kung fu or tkd.

lols...most of you guys obviously have been playing too much street fighter. If onebody who is willing into spending their whole life into learning Traditional Kungfu, that person will basically be unstopable, he will be able to kane all these jap karate, taekwondo and this BJJ shit. Traditional Martial Arts from China that people knew thousands of years ago are able to kill you and heal you in one touch by knowing the opponents pressure points...a touch would be able to bring death and life.

The only time I would ever take up BJJ is if theres a hot female instructor. LOL

Turbo, pay attention. In one of my comments, I was trying to translate a comment that Isaias1assis posted in Portuguese. It doesn't mean I agreed with him. In my other comment, I was making fun of the standup fighters who keep saying that ground fighting doesn't help you against multiple attackers. I was saying, if six guys attack you and one of them puts you on the ground, how does all that multi attacker defense work? Because at that point, you're fighting one guy, with 5 guys stomping you

Yknow, Yes, youre right, one should never start a fight. And I wish all fights are one on one fair and square, but it never is. Thats a fact whether u like it or not.Thats why its better to stay on your feet to maintain mobility, distance, observation and its a lot safer, and run away if you have to. What u see in UFCs is very hard to emulate in real life. People seem to have a hard time differentiating these two. |
