First blame the one who did the killing, only after that think about those who might - even against the will of the murdered - have had some responsibility of protecting him. If I deny protection I have a right to do so. Forcing )(governmental) protection easily leads to preventing an artist to do what he wants to do especially if it is provocative art.

There are no statistics in a dictatorial regime that can be relied upon. That is a main problem. You do not even know what the people want. That's what dictatorship is about: give away no informations about the people's state of mind, impose your own vision.

Van Gogh's murder served as a strong demonstration of how low our modern ethical standards have sank. It is interesting that most articles on the case claim that he refused protection. Even if he did, his government - being fully aware of the consequences of his film, should have forced it against his will. Our societies are measured by how they treat even the most frivolent of their members. Even someone considerably more perverse like De Sade was kept alive and well in 18th century France.

I was shocked by murder Тео. He has made such beautiful and clever film. Really it is a symbol of an opposition of cultures.

Faith in the Son of God 1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. 2This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, 4for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. |
