Also, I think that the recent Bank/Auto Industry snafu made it quite clear that socialism > capitalism: they failed under capitalism, so they asked for a handout and now they're filthy rich again. It will destroy our economy because of it (and not because of the lack of it like the bankers wanted everyone to think), but that's life in a country were the populace has decided to let their leaders do whatever they want without consequence.

Universal health care would be paid for by those who can afford it and used by everyone. You should probably have looked it up before commenting... Also, America is a socialist democracy (policemen, firefighter, schools, and now even banks are socialized now), though instead of spreading wealth downward we just recently sent the largest single amount of money ($600+ Billion USD) UPWARD, from the working man's pocket to the failing CEO. Taxpayer funded health care not free health care. That makes sense but it makes more sense if someday we don't need taxpayer health care and all Americans can afford their own health care. A means to an end is all government can do for health care but like welfare has it helped or kept enslaved to the constant ideal of welfare. America is the yellow brick road of not socialism but self reliance. Last time I checked we went to the moon and Canada or Britain didn't. Capitalism works period.

One payer system is the only way to go. Private health insurance is a private tyranny that only exists in United States. It's a rather barbaric system that tells you you're health is only worth what you can afford.People in United States should get behind, and support, HR 676. If you don't know what it is learn about it! GM & Ford are going bankrupt because of the rising cost of health care. If United States had single-payer system, the companies wouldn't have to worry about it.
