I remember that when the buses enter the tunnel they switch over to a hybrid engine. Personally I really like the progress they've done. It's about time we have a light rail.

oh, the delay in opening the light rail (1996 - 2009) is unfortunately similar to the sort of delays we have here in Britain too. Although the politicians will cry foul at my comments the reality is that our govt. actively dislikes good public transport - because taxes on motoring (especially fuels) are so high that they would have to increase other taxes (eg: income tax?) if too many people stopped buying liquid fuels.Simon

The Victoria Line in London is also closed at certain times for testing of new trains. Its not just a Seattle thing! Anyway, from what I remember your tunnel never did open on Sundays.As for the buses and the fumes, well, remember this, diesel fumes are said to be carcinogenic (cause cancer). Maybe a good legal team need to take action on the basis that using the hybrids in the tunnels is dangerous for human health.Simon |
