ya I think too many dont understand the leverage stuff. It is like a teder-toder as you make that every type of throw or turn is used with this making it unstopable. In the mount I always go side mount, or use it from the guard. If from the mount your too high and very easy to counter.

Yes..we should have been specific. A mounted position (side of full). Going for a an americana when someone is in your guard is a bad idea because you don't have the leverage like you do with a kimura.

you can do the americana from side mount as well

Another brilliantly executed technique and video. Five Stars. Thanks for teaching.

Do you have any tips on how to do an armbar in that position on a resisting opponent? specifically making him lie on the matt.

Yes, there are a couple Americana videos on our site. The kimura and Americana are both key locks (ude garami) and the difference is that the Americana is done from mount and is 'inverted' to the kimura.

I've always wondered how is the Americana different from the Kimura? There aren't any Americana videos here are there?Very nice tip by the way

Yes !!!Legs should NOT be static when you have your opponent in closed guard. One advantage that you have over your opponent when he is in your closed guard is that you can use your legs to directly assist your arms (potentailly more than he can use his legs to directly assist his arms). |
