Life in South Mitrovica

Everybody from Vučitrn municipality and from Mitrovica fled to Kičić. 30,000 people came to Kičić. There were 115 people in my house for seven weeks -- 9 tractors, 6 cars. They were sleeping on tractors, in cars. We barely survived till the end of the war.More than 80% of people worked in Trepča. This house that is like a garage, he made it for work, his name is Ragib Uka. He worked as a miner in Trepča. He is in Germany now. The house next to his: Tahir Uka, worked in Trepča, in Germany now. If Trepča starts working again, it will be better. People will come back from abroad. If it doesn't work, or if there aren't any other jobs, people will leave it all and go elsewhere, where they can eat. We thought it would be better, that people would have jobs, to earn money for living. Everything is wrong now. There are no jobs, people only have some cash sent from abroad. There is no point in working. Do whatever you want, produce anything -- there is no market. It is very difficult.
