as a guru of this art,the history of all southeast asian arts have the same influence, the sriprivit empire,a south indian art brought over during the conquest of most of S.E ASIA ,from siam to cambodia, vietnam to phillipines and java, mixed in with local arts and then were influenced by chinese styles-you can see this in similarites particularly between silat and kali-they are related to a indian art once called veram-which is said to be a mix of greco-persian and indian marital arts-

i think u are referring to "kebatinan" or the spiritual aspect of silat? Sang Persata Nala was not really human? thats the 1st time I encounter this kind of statement.. can u please, elaborate? i know persata nala was a javanese, but not really human? hmmm.. thats a new thing 2 me. n moreover, the "elven race" that taught their arts, i think its more towards kebatinan, plus nowadays as most pesilat embrace Islam, most of them said these "elven races" are Jinns. correct me if im wrong. :)

Not true there are secrets passed on only by word of mouth about its origins, and it predates the arrival of Indian or Chinese immigrants or even Hindu and Buddhist influences in the region. Many forgotten legends resemble lord of the rings involving an ancient elven race that taught the arts to the "servants". For instance, not even many Malays realise that Adi Petra was a wizard or that Sang Persanta Nala was not really human. Thus the keris is unique to Malays
