I use denon dns3500's and CDJ's and I love them and yes you can produce much more on modern equipment then the old school, but I also love the pure simplicity of being able to beat match on a Technics 1210's, its more rewarding then simply adjusting a fadar so the bmp counters read the same and pushing a button to get it started. It takes skill, thats my point

Wrong. Structure of music is learned through... well music school. Art of DJ'ing is done with experience. Vinyl? Does't matter. If you can beat mix with software or CDJ's and the crowd is being rocked then you're there. It doesn't have to be vinyl. Lot's of big name DJ's use the CDJ1000's. You could start with CDJ1000's and still do great.

just wanted to say great set of video's Jon, the thing is with modern cdj's and serato virtual dj etc most kids today need the kit to mix for them. I chatted to a dj at at a local club and mentioned technics 1200's and he was like na mate tried that and cant do it. Everyone must start with vinyl or else you wont understand the structure of music and the art of dj'ng

Drum Machines. So they came at the Music industry from a simpler new technology angle (don't get me wrong both have changed alot with fame, im just stating the beginnings). Daft Punk also put different styles of vocoder into use in there music (Technologic)(Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger). One basic program that you can mess around with Daft Punk type stuff is Reason (a midi based syth all in one program) which includes a drum machine, a vocoder, and all the sounds you can dream of.

....well. let me think of how to answer this... first Daft Punk and Justice have entirely different styles as far as equipment. From what I understand, Justice started with pure instruments with looping, so they recorded music and looped, cut, and pasted the recorded parts, eventually getting to one track with a beat made up of abrupt changes and drum machines, they started on the DJ path from a multi stage recording side. Daft punk on the other hand is purly based on Synthesizers and...
