Maybe your thinking of the FX1000.This cam has only 1 chip and is rated a 11 lux.4 lux with shutter at 30 and +18db of gain.

I make money with almost any hd camera.Just get creative and work with what you have.The hvr-hd 1000u does a good job for the money.Sound can be improved with any good external mic adapter.If you make a living making commercials for network tv or films then this is not the one and most likely you work with the Varicam, Cinealta or Genesis.For corporate video, weddings, local cable etc this sony camcorder does the job.Also light and edit like a pro. It makes a huge impact on your audience.
