The President does not run the country. In fact, Congress does more than the President. Read the Constitution. You will find the President has almost no role, aside from being commander of the military and executing legislation enacted by Congress.

Except the power of the vote is not in the people's hands. Not when it comes to thinks like who is the president. The electoral college decides that and the electoral college is made up of people who were selected based on the laws of each state. We don't get as say in who is put in the colleges and they can vote however they want despite how we vote.It's not a free electoral system nor is the power in the hands of the people which is how a democracy works. Thus why we are NOT a democracy.
